Mr. Walé Adeosun, CFA, is the Founder, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Kuramo Capital Management.  Kuramo Capital is a SEC registered investment management firm with $300 million in assets focused on investing in Sub-Saharan Africa on behalf of US Endowments, Foundations, Pension Plans and Family Offices through offices in Lagos, Nigeria and Nairobi, Kenya and New York City.


Kuramo Capital is the general partner of the Kuramo Africa Opportunity Funds (KAOF) whose Limited Partners include some of the largest pension funds in the world with combined AUM of $300 billion.  KAOF has committed $150 million into over 40 companies in 20 sub-Saharan Africa countries in sectors such as power, telecoms, financial services and FMCG sectors. 

Mr. Adeosun serves on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA). The PAC-DBIA, is a select group of 15 global business leaders tasked with providing recommendations to President Obama on how to strengthen commercial dialog between the U.S. and Africa. This appointment recognized Mr. Adeosun’s deep history of involvement with and investing in Africa.

Mr. Adeosun, also, has an extensive career with both private and public pension plans.  Mr. Adeosun previously served as Chair of the Investment Advisory Committee of the second largest public fund in the US, the $180 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund.       

Prior to founding Kuramo Capital, Mr. Adeosun was Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he managed $1 billion in endowment and pension assets.  Prior to RPI, Mr. Adeosun was Managing Director in the Investments Group of the MacArthur Foundation in Chicago where he was responsible for $2 billion investments.  Prior to joining the MacArthur Foundation, Mr. Adeosun was a member of the Treasury group at Inland Steel Industries (ArcelorMittal USA) with oversight of $2 billion in assets.

Mr. Adeosun completed his BA in Economics and Business Administration at Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his MBA from John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Adeosun was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1995 and he is a member of the CFA Institute. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Coe College and was inducted into the New York Chapter of the National Association of Security Professionals Wall Street Hall of Fame in 2008.
