Gabriel is an author, entrepreneur, venture investor and a strong advocate for business-driven impact. He is the Founder of Group Shumba, a private equity and investment advisory firm with interests in emerging markets. He also founded Mission Waterhole, the organization he uses to pursue his passion for improving financial lives of people in the grassroots around the world. Prior to his latest ventures, Gabriel co-founded and exited V-Track, a vehicle tracking and recovery company operating in Southern Africa, and served in various senior positions in management consulting and private equity industries in Africa and North America.

He started his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he served listed companies, private funds, and international banking clients in Southern Africa, UK, and USA as an auditor. He moved to the USA as a management consultant at KPMG in risk management, real estate and energy groups serving Fortune 500 corporations, private equity firms and investment banks. In his move in to private equity, as Director in the Emerging Markets group, Gabriel led the team that managed investments in mining, financial services and real estate assets in South America and Africa. Subsequent to that he transitioned in to fund management, where he became the CEO of D&R Canadian Investments Group, a Canadian based private investment firm with assets in South America and the Caribbean.

An inspirational leader, he speaks on various corporate, community and economic platforms on the subjects of frontier investing and collective impact to bring about personal financial independence. Gabriel is the author of the bestselling book, “The Waterhole Millionaire”, an inspirational tale that narrates how a person at any income level can build wealth and a lasting legacy using business ventures and investments. He believes in the power that entrepreneurship has in changing the lives of people, especially in frontier geographies. Gabriel volunteers on many levels and is passionate about developing African communities, inspiring transformational leadership, and developing investment grade ventures as alternative solutions to fighting poverty.
